How to use it

  1. Choose a paper type. Square grid and dot grid are the most common; Cornell notes and handwriting rules are set up for study use.
  2. Set the spacing. 5 mm is standard European maths paper, 10 mm suits younger children, and 1/4 inch (6.35 mm) matches US quad paper.
  3. Adjust weight and opacity. Lighter lines save ink and keep your own writing dominant. Around 0.3 mm at 60–70% opacity prints cleanly on most inkjets.
  4. Print. Use Print → More settings and set Margins: None and Scale: 100%, so the spacing stays accurate. Choose Save as PDF if you want a file.

Getting the spacing exactly right

Printers often shrink a page slightly to fit their own unprintable edge. If you need the grid to be measurably 5 mm — for technical drawing or maths homework — turn scaling off in the print dialog and set margins to none. The generator already keeps the whole grid inside a safe printable area, so nothing is clipped when scaling is disabled.

Frequently asked questions

Is it really free, and do I need an account?

Yes, it is free, and there is no account. The page has no upload step at all — the sheet is drawn in your browser as an SVG and sent straight to your printer.

Is anything uploaded to a server?

No. Everything happens locally in the browser. Nothing you configure leaves your device, and the page works offline once it has loaded.

What spacing should I use?

5 mm is the standard for European exercise books and general maths. 10 mm is easier for younger children. In the US, quad paper is usually 1/4 inch (6.35 mm) and engineering pads often use 1/5 inch (5.08 mm). For bullet journalling, 5 mm dot grid is the most common choice.

Why does my print look slightly smaller than the setting?

Because the browser scaled the page to fit the printer margins. Set Scale to 100% and Margins to None in the print dialog, and the measurements will be correct.

Can I get a PDF instead of printing?

Yes. In the print dialog choose Save as PDF as the destination. You can also download the raw SVG, which stays sharp at any size and can be opened in Illustrator, Inkscape or Figma.

Can I use these sheets at school or at work?

Yes. The generated sheets are yours to use, print and hand out, including in classrooms and for commercial work. No attribution is required.

Which paper type suits squared maths work?

Square grid with the heavier line every 5 squares option switched on. It gives you the familiar 5 mm grid with a visible 25 mm block structure, which makes it much easier to keep columns aligned.
